COVID-19 Risk Dial remains at high risk; two COVID-19 deaths confirmed by LLCHD
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and health officials updated the community on the City’s efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, as well as provide information on coronavirus measures which will be taken during the Husker games, at a briefing on Friday.
The LLCHD reported 87 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Lancaster County today, bringing the community total to 7,912. The number of deaths has increased to 35.
The COVID-19 Risk Dial remains at high risk.
The Mayor discussed the Special Designated License for gameday businesses. These SDLs are a special permit that allows a business to hold an event with alcohol outside of their normally licensed areas. SDL’s on public property require that the businesses secure off-duty police support, traffic controls and other measures.
According to officials, these SDLs were previously unavailable due to the amount of police needed for both in-arena games and SDL maintenance. However, since the arenas won’t have fans, more police can be moved to SDL duty.
