Thursday Forecast: Hot and Humid
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - There’s no beating this deep heating...until a cold front pushes through the area on Friday...
Our warm-to-hot and rather humid weather pattern this week will reach its peak on Thursday with temperatures expected to reach the mid-to-upper 90s across much of the region...and dew points return to the mid-to-upper 60s.
The ridge of high pressure responsible for our July-like weather will briefly break down...as a cold front slides across the state late-Thursday and into the day on Friday. This boundary will not only cool us back during the day on Friday, it will also provide many of us with our best chance for rain in 10 days. Unfortunately...but not unexpectedly...it will also bring the region a severe weather threat which will include the possibility of damaging winds and large hail from late Thursday night into Friday morning...and then again later Friday afternoon and Friday evening...depending on the speed of the aforementioned front.
Once the front exits the area later Friday...we expect a dry weekend. Saturday looks warm but less humid...with a high in the upper 80s-to-around 90°. Sunday will be warmer and a little more humid again with a high in the low-to-mid 90s. It looks like temperatures may hold in the upper 80s-to-mid 90s for much of next week...with only isolated rain chances at best.
